F.R.I.E.N.D.S-2

The next in my kitty of friends is Shounak. The guy with whom we must have shared and split numerous tea cups and restaurant bills of such small denominations, as none of us really had that kind of money to splurge. We spent time together from Fergusson college to COEP and then he took of to the USA.He got himself a reputation of being one of the most mischievous guys on the campus and had many a situations that put us in splits. He went on to become a national rowing coach and that to for the ladies team with whom he spent time officially on the river in the midst of nowhere for hours and we were trying to get 5 minutes to even just say hello:).

He now has a Doctorate and delivered papers in Various countries and is settled with his family in Detroit. We were his guests on a couple of occasions and boy what a whale of a time we had. From driving down to Toronto and seeing the Niagara to musical shows and shopping. He took care of is ailing mother and his younger siblings inspite of all the workload and family responsibilities. We had a great get together with all families in Pune recently and what a memorable occasion it turned out to be.He still has the Indian roots, follows the culture and traditions very religiously and hats of to that.People pick up an accent in a year of reaching USA and keep rubbing it in every place even when they come back home to India.

His wife , works and travels and manages to take care of both ends.Shounak is one person , very down to earth, hassle free , fun loving , yet responsible guy who makes you feel at home anytime.

A big thanks there for being a  part of this lovely group.

  1. one of the example of Shaunak's wittiness:

Once we were standing in a group of students of various streams and years. A girl commented "what an odd group". At the same time one more friend joined the group. Shounak commented - "Now we are Even".

I have witnessed Shounak and his wife Sharavari taking great care of his mother who needed dialysis every alternate day. At the same juggling their time for jobs and school going children. Even at that time he was coach to school soccer group.

Currently he is coach to local school science Olympiad which has won prizes.

He has shown that age is no bar for learning. He has recently completed MBA.

We are lucky to have Shounak in our group.
