When a sportsperson starts doing well the media will shout at the top of its voice, telecast many hours of praise through the day and then drop him like a hot potato when the time is against him.
This leads to messing up the budding youngsters career and probably his stint with stardom. These young guns e.g Virat Kohli may or may not be matured enough to take those heaps of praise at one go and end up loosing focus on his bread and butter. If one or 2 seasons performance is equated with 20 years of a maestros career and comparisons start making the rounds that he would be the next sachin tendulkar, aren't we too early to make such comments? Why not just let him be encouraged to play on and be compared against his own stats year on year rather than compare with legends.
Journos please help create the right consistent spirit rather than the sudden doses of adrenaline and chloroforms.
