week long

Imagine when people have to work in offices Monday to Saturday( 6 day week), 0930-1900 hrs ( official times), Indian stretchable times are extra , how does one really miss out on profitability and productivity then??To add to this the showoffs will sit back after office to show their in(efficiencies) and impress the boss.HR department then works out a rule putting strict restrictions in terms of 1 minute late reportng to work is 'LATE".3 consecutive late marks and we deduct half a day of his or her salary .Then the person if one observes actually takes 20 mins to slip into the formal uniforms( especially ladies),the technicians take 1 hr instead of a 35 mins lunch break, the back office winds up 30 mins early to get ready for departure and 30 mins are spent in tea breaks and chats.what is the point in having such long hours and ending up unproductive? In my opinion cutting his salary for half a day should a person be late 1 min each day for 3 days the person may decide not to come on the 3rd day for half a day and sacrifice his salary rather than be penalized. How about the productivity loss due to the person not being there( if it really makes a difference)?
Lets rework this and keep flexi times.Set the ground rules, explain the targets and the implications for not reaching one, know the incentives for reaching one and then roll.As long as the work gets done why insist on someone being bodily present for the so called 9hours 30 minutes every day and then comes a Sunday where you sleep of and little realize that you are ready for the Monday morning blues with no refresh in the real sense. This is where the 5 day week works best and one has a good work life balance.Whats the point otherwise performing at 50%through the week , tired and fagged out and burning out early.Hope business owners realize these issues and make amends which are more practical and those that get better results to the bottom line.
