How important is it to roll back the clock and go back into the past and refresh the memories that you have spent with the best friends who have been part of so many golden moments in your life.Starting from school , Junior college, Graduation, post graduation and then life.for 35 long years , me and my 5 friends have been closely knit and inspite of being geographically distanced, we are in touch .2 in the USA, 1 in the Gulf, 2 in West India and myself. Our families grew and the children grew up and we kept meeting in small groups and always dreamt of meeting as one whole family with the gen next as well.Lots of plans were made and locations identified but somehow the timing and the place just didn't suit till last week.Providence was kind enough to ensure that the time was right and the things just fell in place like a jigsaw puzzle. The dates of arrival into India for my friends travelling all across happen to coincide and we sensed this opportunity to ensure that we must make this moment of truth happen.
The whole machinery was put into high gear and the wheels started to roll. The excitement grew and small bits and pieces were organized to ensure smooth sailing.A beautiful bungalow was rented on a small hill station on the outskirts , in the midst of lush green foliage, moisture laden clouds brushing through our hair and kissing the cheeks, the crisp freshness in the air and the environment was also ready to greet us.The food , the accompaniments , the fuel for consumption by cars and us was organized taking into consideration the likes and dislikes of each member. The most important being the younger lot who would be curious somewhat and also not be knowing what to expect when we meet after a long gap.The better halves were kept into the loop and the day and time set.
It actually began to happen and slowly we saw the arrival of familiar and unfamiliar faces emerging. The faces litup, the smiles spread across each and every face ,reduced the requirement of a flash from the camera. They strolled and hugged each other and we went ballistic and bonkers.Addressing the same way as we met during the school and college days.We had a dress code to come in Tees and 3/4th's and we had hired a school bus intentionally to remind us of those dreadful days going to school with the homework not done. But here we had our homework done. The salt and pepper haired heads, bobbing one behind the other, followed closely by the evergreen better halves who just refuse to grow old. Then the kids who a few almost touched 180cms high and dwarfed many of us.The time we spent together and we took of on all those moments we always knew but couldn't get a chance to share it in a forum like this was actually happening. The roars of laughter almost split through the window panes and rocked the earth to create a tremor of sorts. The story went on till we lost track of time and realized only when the stomach started rumbling.
Food time and we walked across to a lovely buffet spread and gorged on the food defying all health norms prescribed to some of us.It was fun time and it must rock.Took us back down memory lane in the college canteen and the ways and means used to impress our friends of the fairer sex etc etc.
What a gathering. How valuable these moments are in this hectic life.We have achieved , each one of us "success" in varying degrees but all of us were so happy , forgetting all these daily grinds and immersing in NOSTALGIA.Wish these days don't fade and we could meet more in the years to come with our grandchildren probably.Who knows whats in store?

You have put the feeling into the words so nicely. We all are nearly 50, events like this gives us energy to go for another 50.
