When we go through various phases in life and keep blaming god many a times for the bad times one has been subjected to, please give a thought to this article.
There are many families who have mentally or physically challenged people at their places and they devote their entire life, which is one and short, for taking care of them.Just be in their shoes and try to imagine even one day, especially when you are in metro cities and the professional and personal pressure are high. The stress levels built up during these times is so high that it starts reflecting back on the people who have to go through that ordeal every day.Its a huge sacrifice. When others complain , please note how fortunate you are if you do not have to tackle such situations daily. Please remember the less privileged and differently challenged people who live and the people who take care of them for years.

godhra-the decade
Why does the media like to hype on the front page of all news papers and channels about an incident that took place 10 years ago and was unfortunate.Whatever may have been the circumstances and which ever community may have instigated it or not,the circumstances are unforgivable and must not repeat ever again. When people have got back into top gear, things in Gujarat have moved on peacefully with no animosity between people, why stir the passions and emotions again?Cann,t we just move on?By highlighting these events and rubbing it in we tend to refresh the memories of the previous generation as well as instigate the current youth who are not matured to look at it from a balanced view point.Poltics is always waiting to hit out and we make the road to peace messy again.Lets be positive, constructive, help mankind and avoid such situations by a sense of brotherhood and prevail over a few bad elements who have nothing else to do in life but distrupt the peace.God bless all and drive sense amongst all of us to make this world a better place.

mayday
We all keep cruising through the daily travails of life. Its all well till it doesn't hit a roadblock. We are oblivious of the dangers or emergencies that might take place and hence neglect or just fail to anticipate. This needs to be introspected by each individual in my opinion and prepare for May day.
We get to hear so many instances that all was going well for someone and then all of a sudden.......disaster strikes.90% of things are beyond our control but those 10% which we can influence must be exercised.Let start putting up a check list of things that are needed by each and every family member.
1)Is the will ready?Has it been prepared and explained and shared with the dear ones back home.
2)Are the assets and valuables identified , listed and secured with a clear line of action in case of any emergencies arising.
3)Any pages where signatures are kept on a blank page to be handed over to someone who you trust to operate in event of such a situation.
4)Documents pertaining to loans, outstandings, receivables, etc to be filed ,scanned and maintained on e-folders and hard copies.
5)Hospital names,Doctors phone and addresses, emergency numbers, ambulance, cop stations, fire brigade and Police control room need to be stored in all mobiles with one touch dial activated as well as hard copies that will be pasted on the wall near the landline or at exits where they are easily reachable.
6)Car keys, bank lockers, documents, insurance, life, health cards and bank accounts need to be listed and locations identified and kept in a diary with a backup on the e -drive.
7)Whom to contact amongst the near and dear family friends and associates also need to be included in such lists as they will arrive first.
8)Place of work and colleagues and or emergency administration /HR guys contact numbers are a must.
We collect and do tons of things in one lifetime and god forbid when its time to leave we are leaving our own dear ones helpless ,struggling to find a foot hold in this big bad world.Imagine if you have left your family 200% dependent on you alone !!!!!Please create these and provide for a better life to the survivors. You never know who is next??????

bill board
I use to dream of being in public domain and on the front page in the mainstream newspapers or on national TV.It was pretty similar to an average person who would also dream about these possibilities. It was a dream that actually came true.
I use to travel a lot within and outside the country and in the process my talktime on mobiles use to be high.In those days ,about 8 years back the network operators didn't give attractive schemes like today and hence inspite of cost effective measures put in place , the bills were major revenue generators for the Mobile Telecom company.Especially our accounts were most sought after.Coincidentally one of the agencies who were hired to run a campaign for this company approached me through a friend of mine and stated that they wanted a corporate profile for a small campaign they wish to run and wanted me to feature in it.I was baffled as it was a bolt from the blue.Secondly I had never ever done this kind of thing before on any scale. The inner excitement however couldn't be subdued and I decided to jump into it just for the heck of it,assuming that it was a small one time kind of stuff.Since I was working with another company I took permission from my Boss for doing this and he gladly gave his go ahead.
I drove down 300 kms to the location and was pretty late by the time i reached after a long work schedule. My stubble and weary eyes were almost making me look like a guy who has not eaten for days. Those days 16 hrs a day was normal workloads and that took a toll as it was the project stage and stiff targets were to be met at my work place.I was quickly told to shower and then put on the makeup chair for a facelift by the professionals.Wow!!I think it was the only time when i had all this kind of pampering to my face ,done in almost 20 years. The last time I went through this ordeal was when i acted in drama competitions in College. The Guys at work were awesome.they did a dramatic transformation and this pooped out Bipin looked miles different after the spruce up.Now i knew how deceptive the film industry heroines are when they appear on screen fully decked up.
Then came the time to capture the essence and the still shot. After going through the motions to get the exact angle and profile, the light meter and the camera person all set,and perspiration on my receding hairline which had to be dabbed several times mainly due to the high intensity lights and reflectors we were ready to roll. Then came the call-Lights, camera, action and bingo there went the shutters clicking frantically and I had to keep that poise till I heard-great shot.Whew!!!That was it and I was in such a state of mind that I wasn't just being able to express my self correctly due to the conflicting emotions crossing my bewildered mind. That was the end of my photoshoot that lasted 90 minutes.
A few weeks later i start getting calls stating, "hey , is that you on the Billboard at so and so location and i go...what???????To my utter astonishment, I could see myself plastered all over town, in the newspaper full page advertisements,Billboards, fliers, posters , danglers, envelope covers,to the extent that you became a local celebrity of sorts. This was the most interesting phase in my life.My children would come saying" dad,the grocery and stationery shop guy was saying that your Dad's photo is on this mailer and poster etc that they had to exhibit in the shops. It was a big campaign and I got the best mileage I could have ever imagined.A small stint with showbiz:)) i must say. This lasted 6 weeks and boy it was a real dream come true.I basked in that glory for the next few months to come. What a feeling.

sko-da
In 27years of my professional life, the best years that i enjoyed as well as those years that put my life into high gear were at Skoda India.i had shifted from one of the most admired brands Mercedes Benz where i had spent 4years and decided to move to the "unknown arena".My folks were worried and my mom said,"son i hope you know what you are doing?"The aura and the brand around the star kept you as an individual in a shadow of sorts.I wanted to be "Bipin Datar"an individual of brand xyz rather than get branded as a star or Skoda .The challenge in starting from scratch and building up a brand gives you immense satisfaction.
I had to sacrifice a lot personally to build up the professional side.Shifting to a place called Aurangabad,250kms away from Pune where I belonged, leaving my family there due to my children's education and my wife's job etc was tough on me personally.Being the 2nd employee of Skoda Auto India ,it was exciting and scary.Coming from a home of high technology and power, class and supremacy to a brand where people found it difficult even to pronounce the word"SKODA" was a steep climb.Three people in a hotel room of 250sqft and having no clarity on the way forward was like heading into a blackhole without brakes. We had one computer and a couple of mobiles and waited to get the first instruction from HQ.Things moved at a snails pace and the wait became frustrating. The press and media criticizing the delay at Skoda always carried the negative impressions to the potential consumer.we had no advt or PR agency and the factory was a small assembly hall with one lift at the far end of the shop floor.I had to step in and take some concrete steps than wait for those remote instructions from Prague.I picked up the phone and decided to call up the journalists and editors of all print medias directly and got myself introduced.I made it clear that rather than speculate and write negative, please contact me and i will keep you updated about the progress. That made a huge difference.Gradually i was in touch with all the journos and got to know them better personally and set a positive, more constructive tone to the write ups in the media. This was extremely effective as it was more convincing than spending on advertisements.Positive write ups kept appearing at the right intervals and the quick response given by my Journalist friends ( who I still owe this success to) made this easier. The trick that worked was , direct interaction instead of PR agencies, transparent and straightforward approach, and keeping them updated of things to come. The amount of mileage Skoda got in terms of column centimeters, was free and many times more than the paid journalism and advertisement bills incurred by competition. We kept adopting the guerrilla tactics and in all fairness got the car to be launched in Metro cities of Delhi and Mumbai at premium locations like the Czech Ambassadors residence and the Turf Club at Mumbai, that got phenomenal footfalls and mileage at an unbelievable cost.We had just 2 cars for demonstration, and 20 employees pan India when we rolled out the Ist Octavia.I can say ,nowhere in the entire world has any company started of operations( ckd/skd) with just 20 employees as did Skoda India.I owe this to that team that made this happen.Working for 17-18 hrs a day and literally making manual invoices, driving the cars on the trucking containers for transportation to the final destination, skipping lunches and having early morning dinners. It rained and also the dry heat with temperatures reaching 47degrees centigrade, we slogged to build these cars and sell the first 250 cars to convince the management that yes India is the location and Octavia the product. The decisions moved in slow and we lost time but then we had to develop the infrastructure to sell and service the cars that would eventually dominate Indian roads. In a matter of 4 years with just a team of 6 young enthusiastic go getters in my sales and marketing team, we put up 35 dealers across the country , flying 25 days a month at times and spending late nights to reach the target dates.
God was there at every step and made things happen .Some were indeed miracles and my first experiences of those kinds. TV mileage, print media, interviews, launches, inaugurations etc were fantastic.Reaching beyond the borders in Prague and Dubai through the press were mind blowing times. The story unfolded and reached new heights every day. The biggest satisfaction is that all business partners whom were appointed by us in the year 2000-2004 are still with the group and earned success and fame.No one failed in business terms.Political vengeance and personal preferences as they happen in any company remained but they stood by the test of times and came out with flying colors, establishing the fact that they were the best.
I will continue the stories as we go along and rewind the good and interesting times that took place in my life.

betterhalf
Who ever coined this word, is really right .My better half,my wife is one amazing woman i have come across and wish to thank god for the splendid support given to me through my last 26 years of marriage.
I thought , i must share this and it might help many others relate to their situations on similar or different opinions on the same.A simple, down to earth, extremely caring , like a sponge absorbing the ripples in life and steadily ironing out the creases created while managing the home and workplace. She complemented my style of living life and stood by me on more than one occasion facing the good and not so good times we went through together.Even today , the energy levels she displays at work, managing the household chores and the small social network is awesome.Willing to adjust and adapt to the circumstances anytime, caring more for the other person than self, warm and generous to any guest and even to the stray canines that are curled up outside in the cold weather on the pile of dries leaves and twigs.Anticipating the needs of my children and me are really amazing.I think of some thing at times, and presto its there like a wish come true. That does scare me, but then it helps me keep unwanted thoughts out:)).Like every Human being she too has her small desires and when they realize, she is on 7th heaven or cloud nine, however small it may be.
I could go on like this and compile a book of sorts but prefer to keep basking in it the experiences for the years to come. My heartfelt thanks to my dear better half for making this half achieve what we are today.

honor
We are committed to many things in life, especially when and if it affects us.But is it the same when we are on the professional front, dealing with say finance and accounts and responsible for payments to vendors and suppliers ,who supply the goods and services? This is one area I find people majorly having selective amnesia and /or take sadistic pleasure in messing up others financial cash flows trying to score a brownie point back home. What does one get by doing such things?
In my career so far,I have come across big companies and brands who have systems and processes defined ,but the people behind these ,when it comes to dispensing the monies make it so difficult, that you feel like trying to conquer mount Everest barefoot, with no oxygen cylinders, trying to catch hold of the elusive bank instrument fluttering there at the summit. The persons termed" accountants", "finance managers" etc are always so damn busy and make the vendors wait endlessly or keep shuffling dates as it happens in the Indian court of law.Little do they realize that ,it not only messes up the image of the company and the Brand ,but also themselves. The vendors may respect them for the place they hold or the chair they sit on but the day he or she leaves that position,no one would even smile at this person.
Just stepping into the shoes of the person who has come for his rightful dues, would make such creeps realize what it is to play around with ones emotions. One thing for sure these kind of people do get back tons of worse experiences in their life.Almighty has designed this fabric in such a way that you will get paid in the same terms as you treat others. If you can do good to some one , please do.If not , don't harm anyone's interest and mess up their lives. You will pay for the same very heavily.Honor your commitments and value others .

soul search
In life we are all transit passengers. We have a role to play, associate with people at different times in the journey, they play a role and then its the onward journey to destination next for all of us at some point or the other. We are aware of this fact, or should i say we "KNOW" but may not be aware and have to take that in your stride.
People in India ,mainly many ladies have such strong attachments and sentiments that they refuse to let go of the poor soul. They create a huge sentimental cloud in which the tears can wash away the memories in a few minutes, and drag those sometimes till eternity.I know we love and are emotionally attached to some one who we term as our "own".However, we never think from the point of view of the soul that has departed and keep holding on to their memories and belongings. Some even fighting for rights for the "stakes" in the will. They blame , so many other people for the untimely death, or recall all instances that they too were a part of but didn't do much at that time.If we term this as a drama, we may be right and wrong. If we say this is fight for right, then the greed factor comes in and human beings in general keep wanting more and more. What a pity!!
I came across and incident yesterday where an ambulance was standing at the hospital critical care arena, 25 friends, relatives and bystanders surrounding the same and the ward boys and nurses running up and down. The issue was of a poor soul who met with an accident and was bought to the hospital in the ambulance, just to find that that the door lock at the rear was just not opening.Every method failed. What could this be termed as ?Providence !20 valuable minutes for the poor soul who is there and yet, not there.20 minutes of bystanders just looking around and watching things happen. No one contributes to find a solution. Is it Time??? If god forbid something does go wrong all will have a tale to tell and or blame the ambulance etc etc .To be honest how many of us really care about others??Is it them or how they benefit us during and after their departure from this world.Had the same person in the ambulance been a VIP...............what then??The key to the lock would have come walking up to the ambulance in some form or the other.

sand-witched
In India as well as in other countries the daughters get married and move on with their lives in a entirely different environment, people, and circumstances. Its a tremendous sacrifice, and requires maturity to walk that tightrope. One is literally sandwiched between the laws of the (in )laws and (out)laws.
In specific areas however in India especially, the caste, religion, wealth factor, location( US national and NRI preferred) and also the dowry factor( direct or indirect) has a huge impact. After all these bargains and negotiations the poor girl walks into either heaven or hell.Once you have stepped into it, its virginity and family reputation at stake which by Indian traditions is respected highly. All goes well initially and if the couple knows each other for some time or a long time it "may help" in adjustments. However the current generation has very little patience, high aspirations, ability to challenge the male bastion and thus resulting into mega ego conflicts. That is where we observe the first cracks appearing in the long relationship one is committed to.
The girl must work, earn money, take care of her transportation, come back home and cook for the entire household( joint families like in Gujarat may become a huge drain on the physical capabilities of any individual). This becomes challenging and the balance in the professional world and domestic parts often destabilize the life and times of a young lady.ADJUSTMENT in capital is the key and to what extent and how by both sides is of immense importance.Restrictions on dressing, outing, travel, what to eat and not to eat is like going through a routine at Alcatraz.EXPECTATIONS in capital again are the key deterrents that Mar the peace and harmony on both sides. This goes on for years and we change but so do the complexities in life.Going ahead we are going to even face more heat.Do we need professional counseling for all the new to be married couples?Do we need to arrange seminars to educate the current and the previous generation about the fall outs and the damaging effects it has on them and the society in general? Will it really help or be treated as another training to be enjoyed and forgotten.?Or,is living in the best solution-switch on and switch off with no responsibilities and accountability as and when you want.Only when we start to salt and pepper and the bones ache will this realization dawn in such cases, where you don't have a partner.
This is important keeping in mind the quick make and break scenarios one comes across in the recent times. The boredom with the partner at early stages or conflicts with the family members because of stubbornness is becoming common. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.Lets introspect and do our bit to welcome the new entrant to the household and help her take up the challenges the world has to offer by supporting her 100%.

This is important keeping in mind the quick make and break scenarios one comes across in the recent times. The boredom with the partner at early stages or conflicts with the family members because of stubbornness is becoming common. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.Lets introspect and do our bit to welcome the new entrant to the household and help her take up the challenges the world has to offer by supporting her 100%.

power of motivation
People management is an art and clicking from the first interaction is crucial. This results in dedication and a phenomenal change in attitude and response that leads to a win win situation anywhere.
This is a story of an individual who has crossed over into the 40's and looking at life with a simple approach, probably accepting the way things come to him without a whimper.State of contentment or mere subdued persona that is too mild to take on things in a more assertive if not aggressive manner. This is also due to the religion and state he hails from where docile people are found in general. Now if one allows him to float he may be happy, resigned to the fact that this is what of his life is cutout to be.
The subject individual has 22 years of professional experience behind him and is a master in the true sense of the word when it comes to handling concerns and managing relations with customers. But give him an aggressive stance within the organization, he immediately backs off. This turned out to be a deterrent in his moving on a fast track. He started his career at the lowest rung of the ladder, scaled up and as has come to a senior position thus far.The question was, where does he go say 5 years from now?How could he move on ,on the basis of the results and progress he has shown and will show in the coming years? Was his performance recognised. Was he given a chance to realize his dreams? Was he spotted as a potential talent to grow with the company he works with?Yes and no.It was more of exploitation and taken for granted approach where many things just happen.
The same individual was taken into confidence, and given his opportunity to actually deliver and earn his merits ,using all the tools available to him.A critique session and 360 degree feedback helped him bolster the confidence and he started gathering enough confidence to prove himself to the right people and press the right buttons,in turn resulting into smart work. His ability to question, take charge of situations and drive his team with a clear purpose, having laid down the ground rules in simple and clear terms made him a different persona all together.
This was an amazing turn of events and the charge, the drive complementing his skills and attitude made the place grow at a rapid pace in the same environment where he has been working for 3 years now.His way of ownership and looking at things from a business perspective measuring Return on Investments has improved the entire business dynamics.
I am so happy for him and feel nice to see winners emerging from under the shadows when they learn to spread their wings and fly on their own power, which is potential energy converted to kinetic energy.May he succeed in life and scale up notches in his career and personal life.
