anthood

we are suppose to be men on wheels and flitting from destination to destination using all modes of transportation .We slog and secure our lively hood and live another day.
I was just watching an ant working tirelessly and going through motions when i was lazing around on a sunday in my garden. It took great pains to overcome all obstacles and cross every hurdle in its path even if it took time but never gave up.It changed routes, fell of the path chosen, took long cuts, but pursued the goal.
I was very fascinated and wondered all this for what.Going closer i found that it was storing the food particles along with its colleagues in a small crevice in the wall.the soldiers use to drop the load and return back for the next round and it went on till late afternoon.
With a small inconspicuous structure and tiny legs( no wheels), sheer physical energy driving the efforts of mammoth proportions is a stupendous task.Wish we pursued our goals like this.
The sad part however for the ant is anybody around could just stamp it out with least concern and end its life and its efforts easily. No one would care and that's the end of it.It has the capacity to bring an elephant down on its knees and yet is so vulnerable .The contribution it makes in its one life time may be enormous and can be squashed by a mere thumb.
If ever there was a knightood to be conferred on this ant it would be called-ANTHOOD.

Mad ,mad, mad, mad, world

Life is such a roller coaster that it tests you and your physical ability to assimilate the mental stress and G-forces that are created when every day the headlines scream riot.
Gold goes up to 28000 RS, silver peaks at 60000 a Kg,fuel crosses the 1.4 dollars a liter ie approx 5.6 dollars to a gallon.Equity indexes go in a spin and before you know what hit you you are in coma as the big sharks manipulate their way when the going gets tough.Auto and house loan EMI flex their muscles and one finds it almost impossible to budget the monthly expenses.
How will the generation next cope up with this?If every day is a fire fight and the world economy starts going in the doldrums the people are going to really face a catastrophe. The Greek economy, so is Portugal and Ireland and others may follow soon all going in a tailspin. How long can we fool ourselves. The US trillion dollar debt and the rescue plan by taxing the wealthy is it practical??The middle east will choke the crude and US will use their shale gas and Alaska reserves to comfort their population. The rest of the world will see an increase in bicycle economy.
The common man will become uncommon because he will simply perish. The rich will sustain somehow till the richer make him common.Health care will be rocking business and there will be tons of mental cases and hypertension and diabetes will be as common as cold and cough.
People will loose jobs and the baby boom will start ....recession babies. That is the start of another vicious cycle. How can we take care of the next gen if we cannot take care of ourselves?
When we ride the crest remember it will hit the nadir.

medico vortex

Its often seen that people are suffering from various health issues and on the other hand there is advancement in technology and medical tourism is on the increase in India especially people from overseas who flock the hospitals and get cheaper , faster and probably better treatment for the dollars they pay as compared to back home. The medical insurance firms start rocking and all cylinders start firing to let this vicious cycle moving.
The doctors are on the look out for the 1st sheep to slaughter and bingo the next minute we have a patient with hypertension, diabetes and cholesterol which he may not have checked. Docs put a few instruments here and there, give a short burst of medical jargon that frightens the poor patient and he jumps out of his skin and next comes a list of drugs prescribed on a treatment sheet. If you are by chance taking some already they jump up in numbers or simply another medication from a " preferred " company is suggested stating it has better effects or its cheap etc etc.Fearing health and wanting to live at any cost our poor cattle goes to the extent of taking a loan to buy those expensive drugs at times. There may be a lot of free samples given to our docs but they seldom give it to the needy.
Thereafter if you have an ache or a pain especially in the chest region or bones then bingo .....x rays, ecg, ct scan, mri and xyz are all recommended from" preferred" clinics. There beyond another list of medicines flow and you have more medicines in your blood stream than blood and water.Knee replacement, angioplasty and angiography are in vogue and before you realize you are 500000 Rs poorer.Ah! If you have a "cashless" medical insurance then you are ripped. At least you could say I got my return on investment and used other peoples premium to pay of my bills:))
Backstage there is a small channel of commissions, paybacks, lucrative gifts;and foreign jaunts in the waiting for most of the links in this chain.Medical reps of rich drug companies that have infinite profits, referrals given to doctor colleagues, 10% sharing of the invoice value, meeting the target through required and non required tests especially Pathology where the frequency and number of tests are mind boggling.
What does one do?Go to the US for medical tourism when he cannot even afford the Indian bills?Sonia Gandhi, Salman khan, Sharukh Khan, all politicos do go abroad for such checkups and surgeries when people prefer the other way round.I wonder what does the hypocritic oath then stand for???
Most of the medical fraternity nowadays is out to skin every patient and make him a guinea pig in my opinion. We are just walking into a blind alley and hoping that there is light at the other end.How the ride through the tunnel is -anybody's guess?
We normally are supposed to trust the family doctor........if we have one!!If we don't the trip given to you is a well conducted and nicely orchestrated medico tour with a black eye in the center of that vortex that sucks every drop of blood you have in your body. Long live mankind...............

mod(i) -The fast track PM

India is on the brink of a major change. The political system needs cleansing and all the dirt needs to be thrown out.The person who is now on that brink( MOD--- juncture) is MODI.He is the right candidate to drive that change and make Indian bureaucracy accountable pan India as has been done in Gujarat. He changed the face of Gujarat and however the opposition may phrase it lets face the fact that it is there to see. What congress couldn't do in donkey ears his governance showed the way.

I think all the old jaded political leaders in the congress should step down and give others to demonstrate what they can do better. In fact that would be challenging and any party coming to power will have to prove a point to the Indian public.Practice what you preach.Be it anti corruption, weeding out black money stashed away in swiss banks, ways and means of taming the rising inflationary markets and the fuel prices that are spiraling out of control.

The only leader today with enough charisma is Modi.He along with the likes of Nitish Kumar, may pave the way for a new India. These people should keep aside the differences and get together to clean up the mess and offer a better image of India to the outside world. One says " well, Modi is also the same and there is no difference when it comes to corruption!!Well let me put it this way .Even hypothetically one accepts it he atleast ensures that the work gets done and the state progresses in leaps and bounds. He creates opportunities, brings in harmonies and tries his best to keep moving forward and in one direction. All other states simply get lost in this corruption cobweb and working out how they can make more.
Nitish changed Bihar what Laloo messed up for years!!!Thats great governance.

Modi goes on fast and congress follows suit.Don't they have any new ideas??People are sarcastic about his intent and i would say well better than Kalmadi, sheila and Raja's who ruin the peace and happiness of millions.
I look at Modi as the candidate that can take up the top position and add real value provided he is ably supported by some good counsel of ministers and a team of bureaucrats that deliver-A la Gujarat.Happy Birthday PM to be.Good luck.

HO-JAYE-GA

Sounds chinese or japenese???Don't rack your brains because its out and out Hindi( India).
This is the way of expressing positiveness and assuring the other person that : IT WILL BE DONE'.
Ask him or her how and that is where everything stops. The level or enthusiasm in stating this is enormous but when it comes to the accountability in event of " NAHI HOJAYEGA"( not done) thats the time one finds dumb faces all around that state" well, yes we tried but it didn't happen".
This is what one gets to hear especially in a sales environment where targets are discussed.I some times feel that if they happen just like that " ho jaye ga" then what would happen if it is planned and executed to the 'T'.That could reach another level and any team would really perform to the fullest potential.
Ask the vendor or roadside mechanic or a plumber or for that matter most of the Indians in any trade this is the most common phrase one gets to hear.Adding to this the next phrase is " TU CHINTA MAT KAR" WHICH MEANS " YOU DON'T WORRY".
How I wish this applies to weeding out corruption, weeding out black money,or bringing down inflation. The same community could work miracles in such circumstances.

3 khans and singham

What a style and what a craving to be in the media every day or every hour till you get sick and tired of listening or seeing the same old gossip and stupid affairs and conflicts and controversies that give cheap publicity.

Thats what the 3 khans do .Shahrukh, Salman and Aamir in sequence. The one who is desperate to prove a point is Shahrukh when they start getting paranoid if they slip a couple of notches down. The way they go all out to be in the public eye is just too much.Salman at least has a Dabbang or Bodyguard to back it in recent times and a surgery( emotional quotient) and "being Human" the NGO that does a lot for children.AAMIR the perfectionist is the cheeky guy who holds a double edged sword and keeps needling every situation to rake up controversies,Be it his dog or ignorance about the other Khans film especially Shahrukh is high grade politics.

The one I admire the most therefore with almost zero controversies , no desperation for publicity a genuine family man and delivering his matured performances which seem to improve with every film is Ajay Devgan "SINGHAM".He is one star who will take Amitabh's position a few years from now.Class and upbringing that will make him stand apart from the rest of these so called contenders of the rat race.

No dogs, no counter attacks, no gasping for publicity and yet visible .

Hats off.

headlines everyday

One tends to check the news update just to keep abreast with the things taking place around in India and abroad. What a vast difference in our reporters and those of other international channels!!We create sensations, breaking news( god alone know how many claim that) and the content that one chews and chews that reminds you of a cow ruminating. The other reason for more people suffering from depression in India could be the type of news that get hyped by the over enthusiastic journos.Murder, rape, accident, scam, mud slinging, verbal duels, political bickering and of course the Sensex going south wards,How on earth can any one feel good to start a day on a positive note?

Then one sees the Bollywood personalities and their cat fights and bitching(True or false) anybody's guess. The 3 Khans as foes and then complementing each other and scoring brownie points are making a mockery of the peoples intelligence.Maybe age does that .The sports page or edition :Team India in the dumps-cricket.Auto sales-hitting a low , loans hitting a new high, food prices escalating beyond the common mans means, all this and more only increases your Blood pressure and puts your mind with weights that weigh on you so heavily that one cannot think of kicking of his day in high spirits.Yes he may drown himself in spirits in the latter part of the evening for sure.

Now with all this if you keep rubbing it into the people why would one see the TV channels or read the newspapers ??Its so depressing.

CNN ,BBC would cover the similar new more rationally and give appropriate time and place when it comes to telecasting it.The Print medium need sensations to sell I agree but something that helps you get motivated is welcome. When will our journos realize.

zapper

The insensitivity in the blood of people especially here when it comes to awareness or the resultant of an action that effects public in general is very high.I have seen people who care two hoots when they chuck garbage across the road or litter a public place and that is very much part of our world. But what baffles me is the way people drive vehicles and shoot out of a lane like blinders and will not strain their necks to see on coming traffic or follow simple rules that give way to main line traffic.
Indicators provided are not read because they are the "educated illiterate class".They violate all rules set for the public because they think money can buy out everybody. They even refuse to shut a call if they are caught by the cop talking on the mobile while driving or riding.Blatantly they will continue with the conversation and then attend to the cop, who also patiently waits:((.
What do we say to such people??
Zipping through the crowded streets as if they are playing "pacman" they may get gobbled up one day on the streets while their family waits for them to return.Giving way to the traffic behind, or using the rear view mirrors or side mirrors is a rare sight.Same is the case with right and left turn signals which are mere show pieces.Infact the auto manufacturers in India can save costs by not providing these tools to the passenger car as its a complete waste.
In my last blog I had mentioned about the way people are stacked on the bikes and 2 wheelers which sometimes makes me feel that one should classify them as commercial vehicles for carrying excess cargo(beyond prescribed weight restrictions).People , kids, bags , balloons, and infants all on a 2 wheeler and weaving through dense traffic and rains.
God bless this place and drive sense in the commuters and people in general.

chewing gum

The TV serials that keep popping up by the dozens with fancy names and mostly the gujarati and rajasthani folks being promoted left , right and center are a sore sight. They most of the times have actors and plastic actresses who cannot act for nuts but can position them selves as display mannequins who keep appearing in subsequent episodes depriving families of their valuable evenings. If a specific producer who is a lady happens to be releasing them then one can see tear jerkers and mom and daughter in law cat fights that are so unrealistic that they drive you nuts. What amazes me is the way people are glued to this chewing gum knowing fully well the predictable end and the rebirths of various characters. The stories keep on stretching at such a slow pace with the music as sad as the episode that tolerating such nonsense is worse than solitary confinement. The few channels that make people cheer and keep them happy are sensible and will make TV watching a real entertainment in the true sense of the term. Hope the audience realize and wake up to the reality and shun this stupid programs.

yes Sir

The yes men...a different set of people who exist all over and follow the bosses like stray sheep lost in the woods.
The look and the body language of these guys is such a give away that they stand out amongst the crowd.Unfortunately not utilizing the gray matter provided by providence they tend to rely on the neck muscles and the word "YES".
There are exceptions here though which happen. For example when the boss wants him to say NO they say "NO".How do such people survive in this world? What kind of self esteem or image they portray?Do they realize the destruction they cause to themselves and their families by this meek portrayal.
If one doesn't voice his opinion, defend his belief and show willingness to debate with a healthy approach and attitude he will never have an identity for him self. Many a times inspite of asking the people around for views, suggestions if any, they just meekly accept the view that is voiced by the boss, superior or a colleague that throws his weight around.People love to prevail and be aggressive trying to power their way over their teams to show who is the boss but if it is not met with a counter one can never see creativity and value addition in anything one does. The scope to grow gets squashed.
Some feel that by just agreeing to what the others say one can flow with the tide and not have any responsibility. If a thing doesn't succeed they say well it wasn't my idea!!If it does succeed then well,i agreed with you right so I remain in your good books.I know if i please my boss i will always be his pet and he will take care of me.So hang on:((.
Ah!!what a waste of intelligent souls whose contribution to this world otherwise would have possibly made a world of a difference.

Spice of life

The show must go on and therefore , each of us is in the struggle mode, surviving. I guess before birth we kick in the womb , probably wond...
